10 Cited For Tobacco Sales to Minors in Undercover Operation

On December 13, 2014, Juvenile Investigations detectives, along with the Department of Health and Human Services, participated in a Tobacco Decoy Operation. During this operation, minors entered businesses and requested to buy tobacco products. If the establishment sold to the minor, the clerk was issued a misdemeanor citation. Thank you letters were issued to those who refrained from selling tobacco products to minors.
During the operation, 19 establishments were checked. Of the 19 establishments, 10 of them sold tobacco products to minors and citations were issued.
Long Beach businesses that sell tobacco products are reminded to check identification prior to making any tobacco related sales.
