17 LBPD Explorers Graduate from Summer Explorer Academy Program

lb-police-dept-patch explorers graduate summer academyOn Thursday, August 5, 2010, 17 Long Beach Police Explorers graduated from the 2010 Orange County Law Enforcement Explorers Advisor’s Association (OCLEEAA) Summer Explorer Academy. The Academy was held from Sunday, August 1, 2010, to Thursday, August 5, 2010, at the Boy Scouts of America Outdoor Education Center located at Irvine Regional Park, in the city of Orange.

The Academy consisted of Explorer recruits from Orange and Los Angeles Counties who received instruction in such areas as ethics, report writing, physical fitness, Special Weapons and Tactics (“S.W.A.T.”), traffic control, DUI, high risk traffic stops, crime scene investigations, patrol procedures and canine. The Academy graduated with 144 Explorers, each one receiving college credit from Santa Ana Community College for his or her completion of the Academy. Awards were given to Explorers who excelled in Academics (Testing and Note taking), Physical Fitness, Drill and Overall (a combination of all areas of testing).

Long Beach Police Explorer Graduates:

Luis Cisneros, Ruth Cisneros, Rodolfo Davila, Kenia Duarte (4th Place Female Physical Fitness), Carlos Echeverria, Pedro Esquivel, Jose “Rudy” Esparza, Alan Feldman, Chanel Fields (3rd Place Female Notebook), Austin Foster, Antonio Johnston, Jesus Juarez (3rd Place Male Notebook and 4th Place Male Physical Fitness), Christopher Larios, Aoife Maloney, Edwin Luciano, Jon Perrin, and Gregory Reyes.

The Long Beach Police Department welcomes the new members and congratulates them on a job well done! The Police Explorer program is designed for youths between the ages of 14-20 who have an interest in law enforcement. Explorers participate in ride-a-longs, competitions, safety fairs, receive classroom instruction and much more!
