The YMCA of Greater Long Beach received a twenty thousand dollar grant from YMCA of the USA (Y-USA) to continue its efforts to help make the healthy choice, the easy choice for residents of Long Beach. Long Beach has participated in Pioneering Healthier Communities (PHC) – part of the YMCA’s Healthier Communities Initiatives – since September 2009.

Illegal Tobacco Sales To Minors Drastically Reduced in Long Beach

Illegal tobacco sales to minors in Long Beach have decreased by 79% since 2004, according to the new data from the City of Long Beach Department of Health and Human Services (Health Department). In 2004, the illegal sales rate to minors in Long Beach was 36.1 percent, compared to the statewide rate of 14 percent.

Port Extends Public Review of Proposed Terminal
