A walk to raise local and national awareness of the disease of obesity sponsored by St. Mary Medical Center will take place Saturday. The walk is set in a picturesque venue. Participants will walk on a path along the ocean and up the lighthouse hill, while taking in views of Shoreline Village and the Queen Mary.

“Operation Rest in Red” Showing Results, Increasing Safety for School Kids

A speed detection system, dubbed “Operation Rest in Red” has been installed on the 7500 block of East Wardlow Road to calm traffic between Studebaker Road and Claremore Avenue.  Drivers have been known to speed along this 6,000 foot stretch of roadway despite the City’s best efforts to compel compliance with the 45 mile per hour speed limit.

Three Suspects in Custody in Connection With Tuesday Night Homicide

On Tuesday September 25, 2012 at approximately 8:50 p.m., officers from the Long Beach Police Department were dispatched to a report of gun shots in the area of 7th Street and Rose Avenue. Responding officers found an adult male lying on the ground suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper torso.

Police Seek Additional Information in Homicide Investigation

On Friday, September 21, 2012, at approximately 10:10 p.m., a shooting occurred in the 700 block of Chestnut Avenue that resulted in the death of a male adult. Officers arrived and discovered the victim who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds to the upper torso.

City of Long Beach Partners to Offer Free and Discounted Rabies Vaccinations For Pets

The City of Long Beach is partnering with the Southern California Veterinary Medical Association (SCVMA) to offer free and discounted rabies vaccinations to dogs and cats in recognition of World Rabies Day. The first 25 licensed dogs or cats to arrive at the event between 10 AM and 12 PM on Friday, September 28 will receive a free rabies vaccination.
