Long Beach Playhouse continues its commitment to the next generation of theatre artists at the 2014 Summer Musical Theatre Conservatory from July 14 through August 3.

This year, thanks to the Miller Foundation, the Playhouse will offer over 50% of the enrollment full scholarships. “It is what we should do,” said Andrew Vonderschmitt, executive and producing artistic director, “If we could afford it we would offer 100% scholarships. But thanks to Miller, we will be able to offer more than ever!”

This year we welcome Brian Bozanich as the Director of the program. With four previous years of LBP Conservatory experience Brian is a logical and exciting choice as director. He brings with him a select staff of new to the playhouse and veteran teachers. This year will prove to be one of the most dynamic yet.

The unique three-week day camp invites each young actor, singer and dancer to develop his or her skills in daily classes. Every student will also make the journey through the rehearsal process guided by a team of arts educators. In the end, we add the final theatrical element, the audience, and share our talents through public performances of scenes and songs. The camp balances instruction and performance preparation as we travel from page to stage. These efforts are enriched by the dedicated theatre professionals at The Long Beach Playhouse, the oldest continually operating theatre west of the Mississippi.

Brian Bozanich (MFA, Youth and Family Theatre) steps into the role of camp director in his fifth year with the program. Bozanich brings twenty-five years of theatre education experience, including programs with at-risk youth and K-6 theatre. He currently serves as director of the award-winning Saint Joseph High School theatre program.
