The Downtown Long Beach Associates (DLBA) is kicking off the 2014 Taste of Downtown series on March 12-13 from 6-10 p.m. in the East Village Arts District. The event will take place on 1st Street between Linden and Elm Avenues and feature sample sized portions of signature dishes from 17 Downtown restaurants along with live music performed by The Bordertown Saints.

This year’s expanded event will also include an event-wide craft beer garden, live art classes by Brushstrokes and Beverages, and a convenient Bike Valet provided by the East Village Association. Local retailers 1897LB, Anneise and Make Collectives will also participate by offering 1 free tasting ticket per $10 spent at their shops.

“The DLBA is always looking for ways to improve and expand our signature events,” shared Kraig Kojian, President & CEO of the DLBA. “By adding a beer garden to the East Village event, we are able to feature the craft beers and boutique wines that make Downtown a culinary draw.”

Participating Downtown Long Beach restaurants include ASHA, Auld Dubliner, Beachwood BBQ & Brewing, Buono’s Pizzeria, Cafe Sevilla, Gladstone’s, Hooter’s, James Republic, Kabob Curry, Michael’s Pizzeria, The Breakfast Bar , The Greenhouse, The Reef Restaurant, The Sky Room, Utopia, Village Grind, and Pussy & Pooch.

“Taste of Downtown is a favorite event for local residents,” added Kojian. “Every year we see more participating restaurants, increased attendance and guests visiting from further distances.”

Guests can purchase discounted presale tasting tickets online for $10 for 12 tickets, $20 for 24 tickets, or $30 for 36 tickets until March 12 or pay $1 per ticket at the door.
