Draft EIR available for 2nd+PCH project at Seaport Marina Hotel site

A Draft Environmental Impact Report (DEIR) for the proposed 2nd+PCH project in Long Beach is now available for public review. The proposed project site is located in the southeastern portion of the City at 6400 E. Pacific Coast Highway, and includes the old Seaport Marina Hotel site. The 2nd+PCH project is a mixed-use development with retail, residential, hotel, restaurant, and entertainment uses.
The proposed 2nd+PCH project requires a General Plan Amendment, a Local Coastal Program Amendment, a Zoning Amendment to PD-1 (SEADIP), Site Plan Review, a Tentative Subdivision Map, a Coastal Development Permit, and Environmental Impact Report (EIR) Certification.
The City of Long Beach has prepared a DEIR to analyze the proposed project’s potential impacts on the environment, discuss alternatives, and propose mitigation measures for identified potentially significant impacts that will offset or otherwise reduce or avoid those environmental impacts. The proposed project may contribute to significant cumulative impacts associated with regional construction and operational air pollutant emissions, global climate change, and local and CMP intersection traffic impacts.
Copies of the DEIR are available for review at the City of Long Beach Department of Development Services in City Hall, at three of the City’s libraries and on the Department of Development Services website at www.lbds.info/planning/environmental_planning/environmental_reports.asp.
The three libraries are:
- Main Library, 101 Pacific Ave;
- Bay Shore Library, 195 Bay Shore Ave;
- and Brewitt Library, 4036 E. Anaheim St.
Written comments on the DEIR for 2nd+PCH must be submitted to the City of Long Beach Department of Development Services; all comments must be received by the close of business on Friday, June 4.
