Volunteer this Saturday for the 128-consecutive monthly 30-Minute Beach Cleanup hosted by Justin Rudd’s Community Action Team. Meet at 1 South Granada Avenue, Long Beach, 90803 on Saturday, February 20 at 10 a.m. to help rid the beach of trash and debris. Free parking.
Refreshments, which may include bottled waters, canned sodas, chips, cookies, snack bars, etc, have been provided each month since 1999 by Duthie Power Services.
Be sure to be signed-in by 10 a.m. to get a raffle ticket to win some great door prizes each month. The drawings are held approx. 10:35, after the half-hour clean up.
Volunteers are welcome to show up alone or with a group. Average attendance at the 30-Minute Beach Clean-up is 200 participants and all ages are well represented. Student volunteers can even satisfy their required volunteer service hour credits. Forms are available upon request at the conclusion of each cleanup.
Although bags and gloves will be provided by the Community Action Team, beach cleanup volunteers are encouraged to bring their own recycled bags such as a plastic grocery sack — bring extras. Please wear shoes and sunscreen.
