4th-street-zombie-walkIt’s been fun celebrating with our neighbors this summer on 4th Street and surrounds—from the 4th Street In Motion Bike Fest in May, to PARK(ing) Day this past September! We’ve a few more things up our proverbial sleeves for October: 4th Street Zombie Walk Presented by MondoCelluloid & 4th Street “Dia de Los Muertos“ Celebration!

The 3rd annual 4th Street Zombie Walk, slated for Sat., Oct. 30th 5pm – Midnight, is shaping up to be a fabulous event with businesses from Junipero to Cherry hosting live music, ghoulish food & drinks, maniacal make-up stations, a zombie “Flash Mob” dance performance, and more! The event culminates with the Zombie Walk down 4th (8:30 pm from Portfolio Coffeehouse) and ending at the Art Theatre for the screening of “Shaun of the Dead” (9:30 pm). Bring yer shufflin’ shoes! Stay tuned for all the latest details HERE!

Zombie Walk received the support of GlobalLB.com—a comprehensive guide to national arts and humanities month in Long Beach—and the Long Beach Arts Council. “GLOBAL and the Arts Council saw the exciting things happening on 4th Street and asked how can we help?” offered Ryan Smolar, GLOBAL Co-Coordinator. “GLOBAL worked with Zombie Walk to expand the interactive art activities and vibrancy of the block.”

Dia-De-Los-Muertos-2The second event is a month-long “Dia de Los Muertos“ (‘Day of the Dead’) on 4th Street to honor and celebrate the memories of the beloved friends and family that we’ve lost over the year.
