Esteemed Assemblymember Anthony Rendon throws his support to Councilman Al Austin as he ascends to the Assembly’s top position.

“Al is a dear friend and ally who deserves to be re-elected to the City Council. He is recognized as a strong leader for Long Beach across the region and in Sacramento”, Speaker Rendon said in a written statement.

“California is moving in the right direction and I believe that Speaker Rendon will continue to propel us forward. I congratulate Speaker Rendon and I am grateful to have his support and friendship”.

Speaker Rendon is one of three Assemblymembers representing Long Beach, each of which has endorsed Austin for Council. Previously, Councilman Austin announced the following endorsements:

Al Austin was elected in 2012 to represent Long Beach Council District 8, which is the city’s most diverse council district and home to the Uptown communities of Bixby Knolls, Los Cerritos, and North Long Beach. Austin chairs the City of Long Beach’s State Legislative Committee and is the Vice President of the Gateway Cities Council of Governments.
