Dog Haus Biergarten (& free hot dogs!) Coming to Long Beach Friday!
2016-01-27 · By Editor
Dog Haus, the celebrated Pasadena-based concept known for its gourmet hot dogs, sausages, burgers, and one-of-a-kind creations, will debut its first Biergarten franchise in Long Beach Friday, January 29. Located at The Promenade at 210 East 3rd Street, this will be franchisee Tenny Megerdichian’s second location of the emerging restaurant brand, which was founded in 2010 by Partners Hagop Giragossian, Quasim Riaz, and André Vener to recapture the nostalgic childhood experience of eating a hot dog. To commemorate its arrival, Megerdichian will be inviting locals to swing by for a free Haus Dog on Opening Day.
“As a former Long Beach resident and business owner, I could not think of a better community for the newest Dog Haus Biergarten,” said Megerdichian. “It has been an incredible journey working with the Dog Haus team to bring this Biergarten to life, and I can’t wait to welcome locals to the haus.”
As part of its introduction to the community and its surroundings, guests can stop by from 11am-10pm on opening day to enjoy a free Haus Dog from a selection of Dog Haus’ seven signature hot dog creations featuring signature all beef skinless dogs served up on grilled Hawaiian Rolls. Options will include fan favorites like Sooo Cali, with arugula, tomato, crispy onions, spicy basil aioli and avocado; Downtown Dog, featuring a smoked bacon wrapped dog topped with caramelized onions, roasted bell peppers, mayo, mustard, and ketchup; or The Cowboy, with white American cheese, smoked bacon, bbq sauce, and crispy onions.
But it’s not just classics with this one. This store will open early on Saturdays and Sundays at 9am when locals can fuel up on the brand new Haus Breakfast Burrito featuring free range eggs, tater tots and haus made cheese sauce. Opt to upgrade to the Super Burrito and get a choice of any of Dog Haus’ signature craft sausages, pastrami, bacon, or haus chili or veggie lovers can select the Veggie Burrito with add-in options like mushroom & avocado, veggie dog, veggie smoked apple sausage, or veggie Italian sausage.
In addition to Haus Dogs and breakfast burritos, Dog Haus’ full menu includes gourmet dogs, sausages, burgers, corn dogs, sides, beer, and shakes. Other Haus items include The Fonz, which partners a spicy Italian sausage with pastrami and melted mozzarella; while Das Brat features a bratwurst with caramelized onions, sauerkraut, white American cheese, and whole grain mustard aioli. Haus Burgers run the gamut from the trademarked The Freiburger® with white American cheese, a fried egg, haus slaw, fries and mayo; to Holy Aioli, with white American cheese, caramelized onions, smoked bacon, and garlic aioli.
Lighter eaters and kids can indulge in smaller-sized portions – the dog slider is made with an all beef skinless mini dog, haus made cheese sauce, and bacon; the burger slider has just the right amount of caramelized onions, white American cheese, and mayo; and the corn dog slider features an all beef skinless mini dog dipped in haus made root beer batter. Equal attention is paid to the quality-driven sides, like chili cheese tots or fries with haus made cheese sauce, cheddar, haus chili, and green onions; beer-battered onion rings; and sweet potato fries. Save room for dessert and finish off the meal with a Fosselman’s premium ice cream milkshake or soft serve.
In true Biergarten fashion, diners can complement their meal with a choice of suds from the extensive selection of 30 draught and canned craft beers or enjoy red, white or bubbly. Guests can expect a varied range of styles to fit every beer drinker’s taste, including Trumer Pils, Ballast Point’s Sculpin IPA, Stone Pale Ale, and The Dudes’ Grandma’s Pecan brown ale to name a few. Customers can enjoy their cans served up in Dog Haus koozies, a nod to backyard BBQs, or alternatively, those with a classic PBR craving can get their lager fix with a paper bag-wrapped can. Additionally, mimosas and buckets of beer will be available every weekend, perfect for watching the game or celebrating the end of the week.
Unique to all Dog Haus Biergartens is the weekly Run Club, which currently has one chapter based out of Old Pasadena’s company-owned Biergarten. This Spring Long Beach’s local cardio aficionados will be able to gather at the haus for a 5k before reaching the finish line back at the restaurant in time to eat and drink for remainder of the night.
The fast-casual concept, designed to elevate the nostalgic experience of eating that quintessential hot dog or burger, combines this nostalgia with the contemporary aesthetic of its modern industrial spaces. After ordering at the counter, diners can grab a barstool at the communal tables with exposed I-beams or claim a seat at one of the reclaimed wood and steel tables with benches that boast playful phrases such as ‘Nice Buns’ throughout the restaurant. The 2,460-square-foot restaurant is the perfect setting to watch your favorite team play on any of the flat screen TVs or enjoy your meal on the 300-square-foot patio to soak up the SoCal sun.
“Hagop and I both went to school at Cal State Long Beach and it was there that we first realized that no one was doing great hot dogs,” says Riaz. “We have been waiting for the right moment to expand the Dog Haus Biergarten concept, and Long Beach is the perfect fit.”
The FREE HAUS DOGS Opening Day event is Friday, January 29 from 11am-10pm.
The new restaurant, located at 210 East 3rd Street, Long Beach, CA 90802, will be open Monday-Friday from 11am-midnight and Saturday and Sunday from 9am-midnight.
