Suspect Charged in Robbery of Elderly Woman

On February 19, 2016, a felony charge was filed against a suspect for his involvement in the robbery of a 65-year-old woman.

On December 18, 2015, at approximately 1:45 p.m., officers were dispatched to a robbery that occurred at a residence in the area of Redondo Avenue and 1st Street. The preliminary investigation revealed that a male subject assaulted the victim after entering her home, and took her personal property. The victim was transported to a local hospital by Long Beach Fire Department paramedics for treatment of her injuries.

During the investigation, detectives discovered the victim’s vehicle had also been taken from her residence. Detectives located the vehicle later that night in the area of Hill Street and Gale Avenue. The driver was arrested and identified as 35-year-old Lorenzo Lemont Jones of Long Beach. Jones was also found to be on parole for robbery.

On February 19th, detectives presented the case to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office, and one count of robbery was filed against Jones. He is being held at L.A. County Men’s Central Jail on $260,000 bail. He is scheduled to appear in Long Beach Superior Court this afternoon at 1:30 p.m. for his arraignment.
