Warsteiner, a proud sponsor of the ABT Schaeffler Audi Sport Formula E team, will energize U.S. fans for the second year in a row as the racing series heads to Long Beach, Calif. on April 2, 2016.

Formula E, a new FIA single-seater championship and the world’s first fully-electric racing series, blends technological trailblazing and motorsport passion with environmental sustainability. In its second season, nine teams of two drivers go head-to-head in the world’s leading cities to create a unique racing experience designed to appeal to a new generation of motorsport fans.

Motorsport expert Lena Siep will serve as Warsteiner’s official race reporter and accompany the Formula E races and the events on the grid and in the pit lane. She will provide insights about Long Beach’s local culture, nightlife and celebrities. Race fans can follow her on Twitter @WRaceReporter.

“I am enormously proud to be representing Warsteiner in Formula E, a brand whose long-standing commitment to top level motorsport remains unmatched,” said Siep. “I look forward to the challenge and working with the ABT Formula E team.”

With five titles to its credit in DTM alone, ABT Sportsline (competing under ABT Schaeffler Audi Sport) is one of the most successful German teams. Led by team principal Hans-Jürgen Abt, the owner-operated team includes Warsteiner brand ambassador Daniel Abt, son of Hans-Jürgen, and racing veteran Lucas di Grassi. The Warsteiner brand name and logo will be displayed on both race cars and in the ABT Formula E pit. Abt is also wearing a new Warsteiner helmet sporting the Warsteiner logo. During the inaugural Formula E season, the team placed third overall with di Grassi being a title contender throughout.

“I am looking forward to another thrilling racing season as Warsteiner’s brand ambassador,“ said Abt. “Warsteiner’s passion for innovation and sustainability is the perfect match for our team’s vision. We are ready to show the U.S that last year was just a warm-up for an even greater season.“

To kickoff the weekend, Siep will host Warsteiner‘s pre-race party Electric Thursday for drivers, crews, fans and other members of the Formula E family. Guests can sit in the driver seat of a 610 hp Audi R8 that goes from 0 to 60 mph in 3.2 seconds with a top track speed of 205 mph, take a walk down the red carpet and enjoy Warsteiner beer.

In addition to Warsteiner’s rich racing heritage, the brewery also shares Formula E’s commitment and promotion of clean energy and sustainability. For the third year in a row, Warsteiner was ranked among the best companies in Germany for its outstanding efforts in sustainability.
