Sixth District Councilman Dee Andrews Invites Residents to Latinos In Actions’ 3rd Annual Latina Women’s Conference, in collaboration with Dignity Health – St. Mary Medical Center on Saturday, March 19, 2016, from 7 am to 4 pm, in the John Edward Parr Health Enhancement Center, located on the campus of St Mary Medical Center, at 1055 Linden Avenue, Long Beach 90813.
Each year, nearly 200 local Latinas come together to learn valuable leadership skills while discovering new ways to channel their personal power and take action in achieving their dreams. Dignity Health – St. Mary Medical Center President and CEO Joel Yuhas, along with Latinos in Action founder, Martha Cota and Evangelina Ramirez, co-founder, will welcome the attendees followed by remarks from Long Beach 6th District Councilmember Dee Andrews. “I am excited to be a part of this years event to inspire and educate the women of our community to achieve their dreams”, said Councilman Andrews.
Latinos in Action, the events founder, is a community organization founded in 2009. Their mission is to empower and enrich the lives of youth and families through education, health and safety in neighborhoods. Working together, they build and maintain healthy, harmonious, and peaceful relationships while respecting cultural diversity. “It is our greatest joy to be able to teach and serve at the conference. Each year we strive to uplift the women that attend by promoting, strengthen and engaging the Latino community”, said Martha Cota, Founder of Latinos in Action.
A motivational segment will be presented by a panel of guest speakers including Rosie Rivera- author, motivational speaker and businesswoman, Jackeline Cacho, Alejandra Torres Galacid and Hector Gonzalez, and Imelda Interiano. Guests will attend various workshops throughout the day to learn how to manage their personal finances, achieve goals, increase business, how to get nontraditional work with good salaries, and how to control their emotions. Participants will enjoy a special performance by Mariachi Arriba Talpa. Lunch will be provided by Leo’s Mexican Grill. The event will conclude an opportunity drawing and performance by the band Tamborazo San Juan in the outdoor fountain area.
Registrants are encouraged to arrive early for continental breakfast and make-up sessions. The registration fee is $25. Attendance is limited.
