Applications are now being accepted for the 28th Class of the Leadership Long Beach Institute program, which will begin in August 2016. The early application deadline for the Leadership Long Beach (LLB) Institute program is Tuesday, May 31st in order to receive a waiver of the $25 application fee. The application is available at the LLB website, www.leadershiplb.org, and can be mailed or hand-delivered to the LLB offices at 743 Atlantic Avenue, Long Beach 90813.
Since it was founded in 1989 by some of our community’s most influential and visionary stakeholders, over 1000 graduates have completed the principled leadership program and have become empowered, involved, and engaged to serve the community through a variety of ways. The current class participants have navigated their principled leadership program through their leadership retreat and monthly sessions traversing the city interacting, conversing and learning from community leaders and stakeholders. The program creates relationships for the participants to learn directly from those who see and face the challenges and opportunities for the community. Sessions cover current and diverse topics, including, but not limited to, education, sustainable communities, arts and culture, business, tourism, environment, city infrastructure and public safety.
“We are looking for individuals from all parts of our community who want to work with others to make Long Beach the best it can be,” said Jeff Williams, Executive Director of Leadership Long Beach. “Since 1989, we have brought together those with a diversity of interests, a cadre of skills and a passion for a better Long Beach. We are looking for the leaders to help shape the next 25 years.”
In addition, the current program class participants will present their class projects to the community on Monday, June 6 at the Long Beach Playhouse. The evening’s reception and program begins at 6 pm and gives insight to anyone looking to join the principled leadership program. Their class project presentations will be a direct reflection of their learning and will assert their understanding through project activities addressing the issues and challenges.
