back-to-schoolSixth District Councilman Dee Andrews and the Long Beach Ministers Alliance is hosting a Back To School Back Pack Giveaway, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., on Saturday, August 29th, at Martin Luther King, Jr. Park, 1950 Lemon Avenue.

To assist families in need, Councilman Dee Andrews and the Long Beach Ministers Alliance are reaching out to the less fortunate members of our community to provide them relief with a school supply giveaway.

“We have seen the current economic crisis befalling many households in the central area of Long Beach, which is causing families to experience the pain of undue financial hardships,” said Councilman Andrews. “With the starting of the school year, many parents cannot afford the necessary school supplies for their children and we, as a community, must come together to help make their difficult situations a little better.”

With over 1,000 backpacks to giveaway, the event is expecting many families to attend. The event will include live music, comedians, dancers, food, opportunity drawings, and a moon bouncer for the kids.

“The aim is to help underprivileged kids in Long Beach and to assist the families that are struggling during this economic time,” said Patrick Harden, Long Beach Ministers Alliance.

Donations for the Back To School Back Pack Giveaway are still being accepting and are much appreciated. For more information on the event or to donate supplies for the youth, contact the office of Councilman Dee Andrews at (562) 570-6816.
