4 Candidates field community questions in 9th District forum
2010-03-08 · By Editor
The four candidates vying for the North Long Beach council seat had a chance to face off at a two-hour forum on Sunday host by the Grant Neighborhood Association and the North Long Beach Community Action Group.
Approximately 100 community members, mostly from outside the 9th District, showed up to watchVal Lerch, Brad Shore, Dan Pressburg, and Steve Neal answered questions from the small stage at Community Presbyterian Church.
Laurie Angel moderated the free forum and posed audience-submitted questions to the four men. Many questions centered around quality of life issues and city services. Audience members wanted to know how the candidates planned to increase public safety, engage 9th District citizens, handle the infamous Long Beach budget problems, attract new business to the area, use redevelopment funds in North Long Beach and policies about expanding the 710 Freeway.
Video of the candidates answering questions is available on the Everything Long Beach YouTube channel. The videos have been separated by question with each segment showing responses from all four 9th District candidates.
This is the second time the candidates faced off over the debate table. Last week a forum hosted by the Long Beach Press Club posed similar questions to three of the candidates. Pressburg was unavailable for health reasons.
Here is a short video from the forum question: What are top 3 contributions to North Long Beach? Watch all the video responses from the 9th District candidates forum.
