The Long Beach AAUW Installs New Officers June 1

Installation of Officers of the Long Beach branch of American Association of University Women will take place at Old Ranch Country Club, 390 Lampson Ave., Seal Beach, CA on June 1, 2013. Entertainment will be presented by the Wilson High School Studio Singers directed by Curtis Heard. The Singers are a select group of 16 girls who specialize in singing vocal jazz and pop selections. They have performed throughout the Long Beach area, including Disneyland, Knott’s Berry Farm and Cerritos College. Accompanist Diane Barkauskas is well known in local music circles as the accordion player in Kaptain Kula’s Pyrate Band.

Taking the helm as President is Daphne Ching-Jackson. She will be joined by: Flo Pickett, President-Elect; Mary Ann Takemoto and Raquel Sanchez, Co-Program VPs; Carol Smith and Lamis Hashem Co-Membership VPs; Elsa-Karen Braden Co-AAUW Funds-EF VP (Educational Foundation) and Cacilia Kim, Co-AAUW Funds LAF VP (Legal Advocacy Foundation); Darlene Daclan, Secretary; and Pat Sargeant, Past President.

Social is at 9:30 a.m., Business Meeting 10:00 a.m., Program at 11:00 a.m. and Lunch at 12:00 noon. Cost of the Luncheon is $30.00 per person. For Reservations and more information, please call Margy Arthur at 562-799-8479 by May 24.
