Friends of Colorado Lagoon (FOCL) is proud to present the 3rd annual Acoustic Tidal Artwalk to be held on Saturday July 16, from noon to 10 p.m. Created and Directed by Some Things Creative, this free event will be a special evening celebrating art, music, Nature, education and the Long Beach community.
Situated on the sand of the Colorado Lagoon in Long Beach, Calif., this natural venue offers visitors a unique experience. We invite the public to take off their shoes, dig their feet in the sand and stroll along the tide line, while viewing beautiful displays of visual art and listening to the melodies of local bands and musicians. This event is about community, so be sure to invite your friends and neighbors and be prepared to meet new ones. All ages are welcome.
Music will kick off promptly at 5 p.m. with tunes from The Clouds, Squarefish, Slushbox, Doze Guyz, Program Love and John Kray. These bands will accent the tide rolling into the Lagoon with their respective brands of groovy tunes. While relaxing in the grassy area, enjoy a cup of coffee or tea in the Viento Tea Room, sponsored by Viento Y Agua Coffeehouse.
The art walk will take place right on the sand and extend out over the water onto the footbridge. The work of local adventure photographer and Some Things Creative owner, Timothy Dunham will be showcased on the water. Along with found-object sculpture Rick Frausto, beautiful ocean-themed paintings from Shane Bowman and unique creations from Amy Tanaka, Ross Sonnenberg and Evan Kelly. Live Art presented by Tinderbox! Productions will be in full swing next to the stage for your audio visual enjoyment. Once the sun goes down, Video Art will be projected near the stage showing the work of Keith Vogt and Matt Sersion. Paul Alverez, the Lagoon’s favorite graffiti artist, will showcase his latest skills and art. Inspyr Arts of Long Beach will be giving art lesson demonstrations and face painting for kids and adults alike. The kids can also enjoy an arts and crafts table, sponsored by Campfire of Long Beach.
There will be a community organization area as well. Groups such as Green Long Beach, Surfrider, Produce Exchange, Friends of Colorado Lagoon and many others will be on hand to share all that’s happening in the great city of Long Beach.

About FOCL: Friends of Colorado Lagoon (FOCL) is a coalition of concerned Long Beach citizens focused on restoring natural habitats and educating the community about the importance of local wetlands. This event is being produced entirely by volunteers, without whom we could not achieve our missions. Our naturalists will be present to provide information about how to get involved and to answer questions about the Lagoon’s history and its future restoration. The Friends of Colorado Lagoon Acoustic Tidal Artwalk offers an opportunity to learn more about this precious estuary and gain awareness for the importance of our wetlands through the enjoyment art and music. We welcome everyone to join us at the Colorado Lagoon for an evening of Art, Music, Nature, Education and Community.
