Acting Classes for Children from Take the Stage
2009-09-13 · By Editor
Take the Stage Long Beach offers performance technique classes for children in elementary, middle or high school. Emphasis is on developing a child’s understanding and mastery of the art and craft of acting.
Each series of kids acting classes includes vocal development, theatre games, action verb acting and theatre vocabulary along with a course-specific focus on additional overview, improvisation, scene study, monologue work, character analysis, or stage combat.
Classes are led by Bethany Price. In explaining her class, Bethany said,“Stage training offers children and teens a chance to explore who they are, and to experience life – even for just a few moments – in someone else’s shoes. It’s a celebration of imagination, action, expression and listening. Our focus on developing solid listening and communication skills provide young actors with vital tools for success – on stage and off.”
Bethany received her theatrical training at California State University, Long Beach, where she was a founding member of California Repertory Company. She has stage managed, directed and/or produced more than 50 productions, and performed for more than 15 years in stage musicals and plays. She is the mother of three children, ages 6, 14 and 22, and has extensive experience casting, coaching and directing school-age kids in stage productions.
