An Evening With Maestro Ravi Shankar At the Long Beach Terrace Theater March 25th

Maestro Ravi Shankar, the legendary sitarist and world music phenomenon, will mesmerize the Long Beach Terrace Theater on Sunday, March 25th at 7:30PM. This event is a promotion of the Ravi Shankar Foundation.

Shankar is India’s most esteemed musical ambassador and prodigious composer. He is a true icon in the classical music worlds of East and West. As a performer, teacher and writer ,Shankar has done more for Indian music than any other musician. Always ahead of his time, Shankar has authored violin-sitar compositions for Yehudi Menuhin. He’s written music for flute virtuoso Jean Pierre Rampal, Japan’s celebrated Shakuhachi player Hozan Yamamotoand for Russian Maestro Mstislav Rostropovich. He has also collaborated with high-profile composer Phillip Glass (Passages). George Harrison produced and participated in three of Shankar’s albums, “Shankar Family & Friends”, “Festival of India” and “Chants of India.” Shankar has also composed for ballets and films in India, Canada, Europe and the United States.
