Aquarium Ocean Conservation awards gala honors Leonardo DiCaprio Fund, Google Ocean and Panasonic Corporation

The nonprofit Aquarium of the Pacific will celebrate its 2009 Ocean Conservation Awards Gala on Saturday, June 13 at 6:30 p.m. This black-tie event recognizes individuals and organizations that have taken leadership roles to protect the environment and our oceans. This year the Aquarium of the Pacific will present its Ocean Conservation Award to The Leonardo DiCaprio Fund, Google Ocean, and Panasonic Corporation. This year’s theme, Art, Entertainment, Science, & Technology, will celebrate each honoree and their respective contributions to society.
Guests are invited to a decadent dining experience featuring a fully sustainable, eco-friendly menu. In addition to gourmet dining and the awards ceremony, the Gala will feature live music, a cocktail reception where guests will be treated to a special viewing of Panasonic’s new 103-inch full HD 3-D plasma screen television and a special presentation from Google Ocean will feature a sneak peak at bringing the virtual ocean to aquariums around the world, and an after hours lounge with a cordial and coffee bar. Attendees will also see the Aquarium’s exhibits at night, including the new animals of Shark Summer. Proceeds from the Gala will support the nonprofit Aquarium’s diverse environmental, education, and conservation programs.
SAVOR…, the Aquarium’s exclusive caterer, will present the fully sustainable, eco-
friendly menu, including: grilled petite filet with a mushroom reduction; olive oil poached jumbo shrimp with an herb reduction; pecan encrusted jicama and roasted tomatoes with romaine hearts and bleu cheese served with a white balsamic vinaigrette; roasted vegetable strudel with a shallot cream and rice pilaf; artichoke fritters with a garlic herb aoeli; and a white and dark chocolate ganache torte with raspberry filling and chocolate ribbons served with fresh berries and espresso cream.
