Learn what you can do to help our ocean planet while visiting the Aquarium of the Pacific for its annual Earth Day Celebration. Families can journey through the Aquarium to celebrate Earth Day by learning more everyday tips to protect our environment. They’ll have the chance to visit booths from various Earth-friendly organizations such as NOAA’s National Weather Service and National Marine Fisheries Service, NASA’s Jet Propulsion Lab, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Marine Mammal Care Center, and others and participate in hands-on learning demonstrations for people of all ages. Environmental films will be shown to give guests a chance to learn about climate change, sustainable seafood, and reducing marine debris. Aquarium program animals will also be on hand with experts, who will bring them out of their exhibits so guests can get up-close and even touch some of them as they learn about these creatures. Some of the program animals include birds, lizards, snakes, and more.

The Aquarium of the Pacific, a nonprofit institution, celebrates our planet’s largest and most diverse body of water: the Pacific Ocean and is dedicated to conserving nature and its resources by building interactions among people. Home to over 12,000 animals, the Aquarium explores the waters of Southern California and Baja and the Northern and Tropical Pacific. The Aquarium features hands-on discovery labs staffed by knowledgeable volunteers, the Molina Animal Care Center, the Lorikeet Forest aviary, its interactive Shark Lagoon, the Ocean Science Center, the Wonders of the Deep gallery, the June Keyes Penguin Habitat, and new Discover the Wonder exhibits. The Aquarium is open daily 9:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m. (except Dec. 25 and during the Grand Prix April 17-19, 2015). Beyond its exhibits, the Aquarium offers educational programs for people of all ages from hands-on activities to lectures by leading scientists. It is a community gathering place where diverse cultures and the arts are celebrated and a place where important topics facing our planet and our ocean are explored by scientists, policy-makers, and stakeholders in the search for sustainable solutions.
