Aquarium of the Pacific to Host Second Annual Molina 5K Run/Walk Sept. 8

On Sunday, September 8, 2013, the Aquarium of the Pacific will host its second annual Molina 5K Run/Walk along the panoramic shoreline waterfront. The event will begin at 7:30 a.m. and will continue until 9:00 a.m. Awards will be given to the top three finishers in each age division, and the top male and female overall finishers will be awarded $500 cash prizes.

The general registration cost for runners is $44 for youth (17 and under) and $52 for adults. Each participant will receive a bib, timing tag, goody bag, medal, T-shirt, and a ticket to the Aquarium valid during the weekend of the event only. The nine age divisions are: 12 and under, 13-15, 16-18, 19-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70+. Runners will be greeted on the course by Aquarium mascots and several live animals.

The 5K Run/Walk is made possible with the help and support of Molina Healthcare, the event’s title sponsor. Additional sponsors include Pepsi and Shoreline Village. The Aquarium’s partner is Aztlan Athletics. Aztlan Athletics’ mission is to help empower people to find ways of improving their role in conservation and their respective communities, while participating in an activity that is healthy.
