The Aquarium of the Pacific is accepting images via JPEG format to be juried for its upcoming Urban Ocean Festival event. All submitted art pieces should fall under the theme of “Our Urban Ocean,” which may include artwork about our ports, human uses of the ocean (i.e. SCUBA diving, water sports, beach activities), marine life affected by the urban ocean, or ocean pollution. The theme of your work should be how you see the urbanized coast and ocean and what they mean to you. The three categories are: painting/drawing, digital/photography, and mixed media/sculpture/3D. And don’t forget for your artwork to be considered, it MUST be appropriate for a family audience.
The deadline for all submissions is Friday, March 28th by 6pm! Artists will be notified of acceptance or non-acceptance by email no later than April 11, 2014. Please note that if your artwork is accepted, we will require that you are available to attend the Urban Ocean Festival to set up your display on Saturday, May 3, at 8:00 a.m., and break down on Sunday, May 4, at 5:00 p.m. Artists will be invited to staff their exhibit area to interact with the public and sell artwork.
First place in each category will receive $500, and second place will receive $250. One artist (selected from the first place artists from each of the three categories) will then be selected as the Grand Prize winner and will receive an additional $250.
