Position open on Art Council’s public art advisory committee

The Arts Council for Long Beach seeks a professional artist to serve as a member of its Advisory Committee for Public Art (ACPA).
The ACPA reviews the art components of development plans as part of the Long Beach Redevelopment Agency’s (RDA) Percent for Public Art program, which is tied to RDA-assisted development projects exceeding $10 million in total cost. In addition, according to the RDA Percent for Public Art policy, ACPA reviews projects funded through the Public Art Fund. The Committee is a recommendation body to the Public Art & Design Department of the Arts Council for Long Beach.
The Advisory Committee of Public Art is comprised of:
- one Arts Council Board member (Chair),
- one representative from the community-at-large,
- two professional artists,
- two art or design professionals,
- one RDA staff member and
- one RDA Board member.
The Arts Council is currently seeking a replacement for an outgoing professional artist. The Committee meets at 8:00 a.m. on the third Tuesday of each month. Local professional artists who live or work in Long Beach are encouraged to apply for ACPA membership. No member of the ACPA or his/her immediate family is eligible to apply for public art projects in the City of Long Beach. Art dealers and private, for-profit arts consultants are ineligible for ACPA membership.
