Assemblymember O’Donnell and Councilmember Austin Team to Host Town Hall Event

Assemblymember Patrick O’Donnell and Councilmember Al Austin II, in partnership with the State Bar of California, will host “Schemes, Scams & Rip-Offs,” a Fraud Prevention Town Hall for Seniors, on Saturday, August 1.
Legal and law enforcement experts will present information on how to stop and fight identity theft, how to protect your money and common scams and rip-offs that target seniors.
The town hall will be held at the Expo Arts Center, 4321 Atlantic Ave., on Saturday, August 1, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
Congressman Alan Lowenthal will be a special guest at the event.

“Fraud and identity theft are serious problems affecting many residents, and seniors are often targeted,” said Assemblymember Patrick O’Donnell. “We have a great panel of experts to provide seniors with helpful tips and tools to avoid becoming a victim.”
“I am pleased to partner with state and local agencies to bring this important information to the community,” Councilmember Austin said. “The best way to protect yourself is to be informed.”
The event is co-sponsored by the Eighth District Senior Advisory Council, the California Statewide Law Enforcement Association, the Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles, the California Department of Business Oversight, the Bureau of Real Estate and the Los Angeles County Department of Consumer & Business Affairs.
