Some of the century-old rare baseball cards that recently generated national headlines — the treasure trove of 1910-era cards discovered in an Ohio house attic — will be publicly exhibited for the first time on the West Coast at the Long Beach Coin, Stamp & Collectibles Expo. The show is open to the public in the Long Beach, California Convention Center, 100 S. Pine Ave., September 6 – 8, 2012.

“Among the Hall of Fame players whose cards will be exhibited courtesy of Heritage Auctions are Ty Cobb, Cy Young and Honus Wagner. The ten cards on display have a combined value of over $100,000,” said Cassi East, Long Beach Expo President.

“This will be the first time these historic baseball cards can be seen in person in California. The ten on display in Long Beach were among the millions of dollars of rare cards found earlier this year stashed under a doll house in the attic when heirs were cleaning their late grandfather’s house in Northern Ohio. They now have been certified for authenticity and grade by Professional Sports Authenticator, the world’s largest sports memorabilia certification company” explained East.

Other special exhibits at the show include the two finest known sets of “Walking Liberty” design U.S. silver half dollars struck from 1916 to 1947, certified by Professional Coin Grading Service, and a one-of-a-kind $6 million display of early 20th century U.S. gold coins.

The Long Beach Coin, Stamp & Collectibles Expo will be open to the public Thursday and Friday, September 6 and 7, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Saturday, September 8, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Public admission is $8 (good for all three days); $6 for members of any coin or stamp club; $4 for seniors 65 and older and for children ages 8 to 16. More admissions discount information and a Schedule of Events are available online at www.LongBeachExpo.com.
