Battleship Iowa Launches Music Under the Guns Concert Series

On Saturday, February 7 at 2:30 pm, Battleship IOWA will be kicking off its “Music Under the Guns” series with an inaugural performance by The Shoreline Symphonic Winds, one of the oldest volunteer musical ensembles in Southern California.
“Music Under the Guns” is a unique concert series featuring local community musicians performing a variety of music styles. Held outdoors on the ships’ fantail, directly in front of the large 16” guns, the entire family will be entertained each month.
Guests are reminded to dress appropriately. Tickets are $10 for Adults and $5 for children 12 and under and students with valid identification. Seating is limited.
The Shoreline Symphonic Winds will be performing a selection of Broadway and Movie soundtracks culminating in a Patriotic closing. The Long Beach Community Band was originally founded in 1947 by James E. Son, who was a baritone saxophonist in the John Philip Sousa band.
Battleship IOWA is the West Coast’s only Battleship open to the public. Operated by the nonprofit Pacific Battleship Center (PBC), the IOWA opened on July 7, 2012 as an interactive naval museum at the L.A. Waterfront. It is dedicated to “Celebrating the American Spirit” through the preservation and interpretation of the Battleship IOWA. By sharing the accomplishments and sacrifices of American patriots and engaging visitors in unique and exciting ways PBC bring the ship to life by connecting the past with the future.
