Bright and early at 8:00 am on Sunday July 14th 600 women from all over Southern California – both avid and novice bicyclists alike – will participate in the third annual Beach Babe Bicycling Classic. 2nd District Council Member and avid bike advocate Dr. Suja Lowenthal will be on hand to say “go” as the ride begins from the Shoreline Aquatic Park in Long Beach. The ride winds its way along the beautiful So Cal coastline through Long Beach, Belmont Shore, Naples, Seal Beach, Huntington Beach and back. There are both a 15 and 36 mile course options, with most of the ride on flat easy beach bike paths. Individual tickets are $80 per person, with special prices for both trios and groups, and your ticket to the most amazing girls-party on wheels! Online registration is available now and last year sold out. Get your tickets today at:

The Beach Babe Classic is open to women of all ages and riding abilities, with colorful themed costumes encouraged, catered rest stops, roving mechanics (both Jones Bicycles and Jax Bicycles of Long Beach will be providing tech support), and enthusiastic local Beach Bums to cheer the ladies along. The Beach Babe Classic has inspired women of all walks of life and fitness levels to sign up to become avid “Beach Babes” and make a weekend celebration of it at the Hotel Maya – the event’s official hotel.

Michelle C., a new participant in 2013, recently won a “Beach Babe Bling” package in April for her honest and inspiring reason for signing up for the ride:

“I am riding in the Beach Babe Classic because I find the idea of a non-competitive ride with a bunch of other “sisters” to be exciting. I have never ever done anything like this, and since I decided that 2013 would be a year of adventure and trying new things, I am not letting fear or anxiety stand in the way. Beach Babe has also inspired me to sign up for other bike events this year. I am so looking forward to meeting some amazing women!”

Saturday afternoon July 13th from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm Gladstone’s at The Pike will host the official “packet pickup” and has helped set the event’s festive tone by creating an the official “Beach Babe-Tini.” Sure to be a summer sensation, the new drink highlights ride creator Janaé Noble of Noble Pursuit’s commitment to growing this fun event specifically with the help of local businesses and organizations to create a win/win event for everyone involved. More than thirty local businesses such as Bank of America of Long Beach (who are providing course marshals and volunteers) have become partners in making the Beach Babe Classic such a success. Our expotique at the finish line showcases an array of exhibitors who can help women transform their lives through active living, wellness, and education.

“It was so exciting for me to move back to my hometown of Long Beach and quickly connect with so many great local companies here. I’ve enjoyed working with so many talented people, especially Long Beach’s own “Special Events & Filming” department to create a ride that captures not only the beauty of our coastline but focuses on the wonderful bike infrastructure we have.” says Janaé, “I wanted to highlight the importance of continuing to build more bike-specific infrastructure so that women feel safe and confident riding their bikes with their entire family.”
