Take in a Free Beach Screening of Dazed and Confused
2011-04-05 · By Editor
On Wednesday, April 20, 2011 Mondo Celluloid presents a showing of Dazed and Confused at Cherry Beach at the Bluff (below Ocean Blvd. off Junipero), Long Beach.
In a small Texas town, incoming freshmen at Robert E. Lee High School endure a hellish right-of-passage by the upperclassmen. Freshman boys are hunted down and paddled, while the girls are humiliated by the likes of the menacing Darla Marks (Parker Posey). Freshman Mitch Kramer (Wiley Wiggins) struggles to elude the paddle of bully O’Bannion (Ben Affleck) while finding himself befriended by quarterback Randall “Pink” Floyd, who is dealing with an existential struggle of his own. Pepper in about two dozen more athletes, stoners, nerds, greasers, cheerleaders, and meddling adults; mix in some Aerosmith, Foghat, Frampton, and Runaways; and sit back for cinema’s greatest ode to the 1970′s. As the film’s tagline offered: “It was the last day of school in 1976, a time they’d never forget… if only they could remember.”
Our friends at Alfredo’s Beach Club will be setting up their inflatable screen and sound system for us – just come down, get comfy, and enjoy the show!
