Beach Soccer Championships attract international players

May is the month for Beach Soccer in Long Beach with the inaugural Beach Soccer Championships bringing the best youth and adult players from around the world, including professional players from Senegal, Brazil and Portugal to compete for a $4,000 purse. The action will happen the weekend of May 28-30 at Alamitos Beach in downtown Long Beach. Spectators can sit in the beach soccer stadium and enjoy live entertainment and food and retail vendors.
Openings for youth and adult teams are still available. Teams may register for the Beach Soccer Championships, through May 15, 2010 on the Beach Soccer USA website. The costs are $450, youth; $550 adults; and $650, professionals. The format of play is U8 & U9 play 6v6, all other ages play 5v5.
Originating in Oceanside, the Beach Soccer Championships is experiencing nation-wide growth.
