Beauty and the BeastGO-FAME Youth Theatre Company kicks off its 4th season November 10-11, 2012 at the Millikan High School Auditorium with Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, Jr.

Based on Disney’s Academy Award-winning animated film and Tony Award-winning stage musical, this 90-minute production of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast Jr. recounts the classic story of a clever beauty and her ferocious captor—a young prince trapped under an enchantress’s spell, who must learn to love and be loved in return to break the curse.

The book for Disney’s Beauty and the Beast Jr.  is by Linda Woolverton, a Long Beach native and CSULB graduate, who wrote the original screenplay for the animated movie as well as co-authored the script for The Lion King and most recently wrote the script for Tim Burton’s Alice In Wonderland. The show includes favorite songs from the animated film’s score such as the delightful “Be Our Guest” and the beloved title song, “Beauty and the Beast” (music by Alan Menken and lyrics by Howard Ashman and Tim Rice).

Forty-three young performers, ages 4-18, representing 21 schools from 7 school districts, including 2 homeschool programs, will bring the fairy tale to life in this magical production, featuring Coco Rominger as Belle, Garrett Engle as the Beast and Jayson Ziegenhagen as Gaston. Filled with lovable characters, beautiful tunes and fascinating sets and costumes, this “tale as old as time” gives families the opportunity to experience live theatre at an affordable price and is sure to enchant audience members of all ages.

“It’s been really fun to work on a show so loved by the cast,” says director Elaine Zofrea. “It’s a Disney movie they grew up with and everyone is excited to bring the movie characters to life. We invite you to stay after the show and meet selected cast members. Don’t forget to wear your favorite princess dress!”
