In honor of Long Beach Arts Month this October, the Bembridge House will open its doors to the public for two fun free events.

The events, which include a figure drawing class and an author talk, will promote Long Beach creative arts, celebrate the arts legacy left behind by Dorothy Bembridge, and bring additional awareness to the art of preservation celebrated in the restoration of the Bembridge House.

On Saturday, October 13 from 2-4 pm, artists are invited to participate in a figure drawing workshop at the Bembridge House. The session will be led by artist Jill Sykes, with a professional model posing for various poses. Participants need to bring their own supplies (pencils, paper, clip boards, drawing horses, easels, etc.) and space is limited to 10 artists. Reservations are required and participants must be over 18. Call (562) 493-7019 to participate.

On Saturday, October 20 from 7-8:30 pm, the Bembridge House will host a spectral-filled evening with speaker Claudine Burnett, author of Haunted Long Beach and the former head of the Literature and History Department of Long Beach Public Library. Claudine Burnett will share some of Long Beach’s “ghostly” happenings, along with some true tales of death and murder from Long Beach’s early years. Light refreshments will be served and reservations are required. Must be over 13 to attend. Call (562) 493-7019 to attend.
