This proves LB has too many Cupcake centric bakeries.

    Seriously, new idea please.

  2. Cupcake says:

1 cupcake bakery per 100,000 residents is way below the National average for Urban Markets. You can never have too many cupcakes!

There is more to Long Beach than just the Shore and East of Lakewood Blvd. What happened to the rest of Long Beach ? Doesn’t Ms Holbrook visit this side of LB? What about Bake And Broil and their Red Velvet cupcakes. What are we chopped liver on this side of town? slighted.

  4. Vicki says:

Love the LB Post, found you in their article. Sitting her just amazed why do people just sit and put stupid comments onto articles. I love Miss Priss and after reading your article just may try the others.

  5. Laura says:

Those listed are all well and good, but my ULTIMATE favorite are cupcakes from Bouchees (downtown)!! They are made fresh and from scratch… different ones daily.

  6. Carina says:

Hello, Thanks for the cupcake shop listing. Although many bakeries and restaurants bake cupcakes too it is nice to see the specialty shops our city offers. This is an awesome start to discovering our treasures.
Nice to see LB Post pick it up too! Way to go!

    Yay for Frosted Cupcakery!

I have to say that I’ve tried Sweet Embellishments and was totally underwhelmed. They have all these great evocative names for different flavor combinations, but I found them to be pretty bland all around.

I also agree with Charlie Gordon… It would have been nice to see some other bakeries that do cupcakes on the list (not just cupcake shops). Bake-n-Broil’s red velvet is pretty damn good! At least worthy of consideration!

  8. Chandra says:

Although these shops all make cupcakes, I think they are all capable of more as well. At least I know that Sweet& Saucy Shop makes amazing wedding cakes and cake lollipops!
    Great article Barbara! :)

GOT TO SAY, RED VELVET CUPCAKES AT BAKE AND BROIL IN BIXBY KNOLLS ARE THE BEST i HAVE TRIED THEM IN LB AT THE STATED LOCATIONS AS WELL AS SPRINKLES FROM BEVERLY HILLS TO NEWPORT BEACH, TRY THE CUPCAKES AT BAKE AND BROIL ALONG WITH THEIR HOME BAKED CAKES AND YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED. yi HAVE

  10. Aileen says:

Bake and Broil makes the best red velvet cupcakes, from Beverly Hills to New port Beach and we only have to drop into Bixby Knolls to get a great home cooked meal along with a red velvet cupcake and or a home baked cake. It is the best Long Beach has to offer as of Jan 5, 2010. Believe me I know cupcakes
    coming from a Shore resident

There is no mention to Bristol Farm’s Cupcakes. They were voted number one best overall cupcake by the Orange County Register. I have to say I have tried them all. It is hard to say which is my favorite! The Red Velvet is delicious I had heard about this cupcake and was pleasantly surprised how light it is. During the Thanksgiving they had a pumpkin with or without chocolate chips and a cream cheese butter cream. At Christmas they had a candy cane one. Currently I tried an Irish mint one which was so good! I shop at Bristol Farm’s weekly and just love their bakery and the people in the bakery.
