First Fridays will be a “Green Scene” on April 5 as Bixby Knolls celebrates spring and Mother Earth.  Song birds, guerilla gardeners, seeds & saplings, recyclers, re-users, Earth Goddesses, and organic farmers are encouraged to come out and green-up Bixby Knolls.  Plus, there’s always plenty of art, music, and great dining to enjoy.

Ingredients of the night include: Live art and interactive art activities, the world’s tallest tree-hugger, break dancers, blue grass prodigies, reggae, blues, jazz, indie rock, up-cycled art, politicos, Port of Long Beach, student recitals, pot your own sunflowers, Toaster Music sound installation, Hughes Green Team & Re-use Exhibit, Cal Heights Clean Streets, slam poetry, friendly goats, Conservn Mervyn and the Knolls Ranger, dramatic scenes, free books, gift items, antiques, the Big Red Bus, and plenty of the unexpected.

Other special features:  Punk queen Exene of the legendary band X is performing with Michelle Mangione at The Mirage Cafe.   Also, check out the Aveda Silent Auction at Salon Medusa in conjunction with Surf Rider Foundation to raise money for clean water.

7th DIstrict Councilmember James Johnson’s “First Books at First Fridays” at the Dana Branch Library features Fire Chief Mike Duree. Event begins at 5:30pm.

8th District Councilmember Al Austin’s “Council on Your Corner” will be set up at Atlantic & Burlinghall to meet and greet attendees.

Stop by Bella Cosa (3803 Atlantic) from 6:30pm – 8:00pm to find all the information about First Fridays, maps, business info, and restaurant recommendations.

When the businesses start to close, “First Fridays After Hours” begins. Several local restaurants go late into the night with food, drinks, and music. Why go home early? Stay out late and continue the energy.

Dine on Art-Lantic Avenue at one of our tasty restaurants then grab the Big Red Bus that will transport you venue to venue from designated stops at the participating businesses.
