First Fridays goes “Awesomely ‘80s” as Bixby Knolls celebrates the most tubular decade ever! Photo contest: Between now and Friday at 6:30pm you are encouraged to post a photo of YOU in the 80s on our First Fridays Facebook page and you could win a classic ‘80s 3-pack movie set!

All preppies, punkers, and posers get dressed up and go “back in time” for ‘80s video games, music, fashion, hair, break dancing, trivia games, sing-alongs, and Madonna wannabe’s. Pop your collars, tease your hair, or wear your leather jacket and head to About U for an Instagram costume contest. EJ Malloy’s has your favorite ‘80s drink specials and there is always plenty of art, music, and great dining around the district to enjoy.

Beyond the ‘80s: Live art and interactive art activities, jazz and funk, Rock for Vets, Melinda McCoy’s Flowers celebrating 28 years in Bixby Knolls, reggae, politicos, Toaster Music sound installation, classic cars, a book signing, friendly day-glo goats and chickens, the Knolls Ranger, dramatic scenes, free books, gift items, antiques, the Big Red Bus, and plenty of the unexpected. Plus, a real “thriller” at Aura Thai (hint, hint).

Other special feature: Nino’s Italian Restaurant & Digital Installers host a classic ‘80s favorite film. Enjoy big screen projection and outdoor dining in Nino’s parking lot.

7th District Councilmember James Johnson’s “First Books at First Fridays” at the Dana Branch Library features guest reader Hearty Marty from Agape Children’s Museum. Event begins at 5:30pm.

8th District Councilmember Al Austin’s “Council on Your Corner” will be set up at Atlantic & Burlinghall to meet and greet attendees.

Stop by Bella Cosa (3803 Atlantic) from 6:30pm – 8:00pm to find all the information about First Fridays, maps, business info, and restaurant recommendations.

When the businesses start to close, “First Fridays After Hours” begins. Nino’s Italian Restaurant hosts “Danceteria” featuring DJ Bartles & Jaymes playing all the best ‘80s dance hits. The Factory and EJ Malloy’s also go late into the night with food, drinks, and music. Why go home early? Stay out late and continue the energy.

Dine on Art-Lantic Avenue at one of our tasty restaurants then grab the Big Red Bus that will transport you venue to venue from designated stops at the participating businesses.
