John Allen has served on the Long Beach Water board for 7 years. He is running for the Division 3 seat on the WRD.

Bob Foster, who just completed eight years running California’s sixth largest city, is endorsing former gang prosecutor and local water commissioner John Allen for election to the Division 3 seat on the board that oversees the Water Replenishment District of Southern California (WRD).

“I’m voting for John Allen because of his experience and thorough understanding of water issues,” Foster stated. “He can help get us through this record breaking drought with our critically low water supplies while also improving our water services.”

Under Allen’s seven years on the Long Beach water board, the department charged ahead with aggressive conservation and education plans that resulted in a 13.5% reduction in water consumption by city residents and businesses and put Long Beach ahead of other cities and even the state in recognizing and declaring the severity of the current drought.

“When Bob Foster named me to the Long Beach Water Commission seven years ago, my focus was on conservation, keeping rates low and educating people on the dire state of our water balance,” said Allen who was twice elected president of the board by his fellow commissioners.

The Water Replenishment District manages groundwater for nearly four million residents in 43 cities of Southern Los Angeles County.
