Book by Authors: North Long Beach Anthology is launching with a release party at Barnes & Noble Towne Center on Monday, October 19 at 6 pm. The public is invited to join writers and artists for an inspiring and moving evening to celebrate the lives and stories in North Long Beach.
Book by Authors – North Long Beach Anthology is a collection of creative works about North Long Beach by local writers and artists. According their website, the book “showcases local talent and helps unveil who we are as a community (both intellectually and experientially) and produces both a learning tool and an inspiring opportunity for Long Beach youth.”
At the book release party, writers are invited to share their stories aloud in open mic readings starting at 6:30 p.m. RSVPs encouraged by email to Rachel Potucek, [email protected]

Book by Authors: North Long Beach Anthology was awarded a Phase I Connected Corridor grant in 2008. Book by Authors is a Smolarcorp project created by Ryan Smolar and managed by Rachel Potucek. All Smolarcorp production was donated as volunteer labor toward the project that required outreach to more than forty groups, schools and non-profit organizations, direct mail to 4,000 homes, street outreach, five writing workshops, and coordination between hundreds of talented writers and artists.
Smolarcorp thanks Connected Corridor, Leadership Long Beach, Long Beach Community Foundation, and the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation for making this project possible; and Barnes & Noble Towne Center for hosting this event.
