Parents Urged to Get Car Seats Checked for Safety
Assemblymember Bonnie Lowenthal, in conjunction with the California Highway Patrol, is holding two car seat safety events. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, three out of four children in child safety seats are not property secured. Child passenger safety seats are the major factor in saving small children from severe injuries or death in a moving vehicle. When used correctly, child safety seats can reduce fatal car injuries by 71% for infants and 54% for children ages one to four. These events will provide hands-on training, education, and information on the proper use of children’s safety seats.
