Operation Jump Start Casino NightOperation Jump Start (OJS) invites Long Beach to place their bets on the success of local students at the first Diamonds & Hearts Casino Night & Auction on Friday, September 28 at the Long Beach Marketplace Lake.

“Operation Jump Start helps dozens of students in Long Beach become the first in their families to graduate high school and gain a college education, yet there are still so many more bright kids who need our support,” said Board President Albert Israel. “Hosting Diamonds & Hearts gives our community a fun and exciting way to do good while having a great time and keep the benefits in Long Beach.”

The Vegas-style festivities will include classic sin-city table games like blackjack, poker, craps and roulette, as well as a “Taste of the Marketplace” and hosted bar. When not gaming, guests will dance the night away to live classic rock, disco, dance, country and pop hits performed by local favorite Squeezebox Band –  And, attendees will be invited to ante up at a silent auction featuring exclusive prizes such as a VIP package to the Long Beach Grand Prix and tickets to a USC Trojans game.

The first Diamonds & Hearts Casino Night & Auction is set for Friday, September 28 from 7:00 p.m. to 11 p.m. at the Long Beach Marketplace Lake, 6475 E. Pacific Coast Hwy at Second Street, Long Beach. Tickets, $75 each, are on sale now at  All proceeds fund OJS’ unique community-based mentoring programs, serving over 120 Long Beach students each year.

Operation Jump Start works with students who attend school in the Long Beach Unified School District and are the first in their families to attend college.  In addition to one-on-one mentoring, they provide enrichment programs, and free supportive services, such as counseling, scholarship opportunities and academic tutoring.
