Long Beach Transit will hold a free customer appreciation event to celebrate their 50th anniversary. The event will take place on Friday, March 15, 2013 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Promenade Park, ideally located adjacent to LBT’s main transit hub, the First Street Transit Gallery between Long Beach Boulevard and Pine Avenue in Downtown Long Beach.

Special commemorative 50th anniversary bus pass holders will be handed out to attendees while supplies last. Residents are encouraged to get there early to receive this gift. Long Beach Transit will also be raffling off 20 of their new limited edition 50th anniversary book that chronicles the agency’s innovative history since 1963.

“We are a much different bus company than we were 50 years ago. We have quadrupled the number of passengers we serve while maintaining some of the highest customer satisfaction scores in the industry. This event will recognize our customers for their loyalty and patronage as well as display the significant improvements made to provide transit services that enhance and improve the quality of life for our customers over the last 50 years,” said Barbara Sullivan-George, Chair, Long Beach Transit Board of Directors.

The event will have light refreshments, a DJ playing music from over the last 50 years, live entertainment, and Long Beach Transit memorabilia on display. As an extra value to the community, Long Beach Transit staff will be giving demonstrations on how-to-ride-the bus, including the step-by-step process of using the popular bike racks on the front of the bus.
