Downtown Long Beach’s Arts-centric dining experience, Utopia Good Food & Fine Art, will host the Long Beach Opera on Tuesday, February 22, 2011 in the first of a monthly series of Salons spotlighting Artists and Arts organization.

Andreas Mitisek, LBO Artistic and General Director, will introduce the Long Beach Opera Company and the 2011 Season, including a musical performance from one of this season’s operas. Whether you’ve never been to the opera, or you’re a season ticket holder, you’re sure to enjoy this engaging dialog with Mitisek and the company in a relaxing environment.

“LBO is proud to be chosen as the first group to participate in Utopia’s new Good Food & Fine Art Salon series,” says Andreas Mitisek. “Turning operas into musical adventures relevant to our modern times is what LBO is known for and we are grateful for the opportunity to present our work to a new audience. This series will be an amazing opportunity for everyone to discover the enormous variety of art, dance, music, and theater in Long Beach.”

The Opera Company recently launched its 2011 season beginning with the US Premiere of the original version of MEDEA by Luigi Cherubini. This sensational drama, driven by raw passion and violence, features some of the most innovative and expressive music in opera.

“We’re really looking forward to a fun and entertaining evening,” said Utopia co- owner Amir Zee. His partner, Kamran Assadi, elaborated, “We think of ourselves as close friends of the Arts.” Both partners explained that the Salons are their way of introducing new audiences to arts organizations like the Long Beach Opera.

A special menu in honor of the Long Beach Opera will be available for Salon attendees who may wish to have dinner following the event. There is no charge to attend the salon, but RSVPs are encouraged. For more information, visit www.utopiarestaurant.net or call 562-432-6888.
