As part of Arts Month in Long Beach, Bixby Knolls is ready to celebrate ARTober at First Fridays on October 5. The Expo Arts Center will be loaded with two art galleries and live spray artists plus two large exhibits and staged readings from the Arts Council of Long Beach. Also planned are dance performances from Post Mortem Grotesque Burlesque.
You’ll also get to enjoy the mash-up of graffiti artists, classic cars, funky haircuts, photography, and baby clothes. You can trick or treat and also enjoy Lady Gaga, jazz, swing, oldies, Klezmer, strolling polka, Seafunk Brass, improv comedy, birthday cake, face painting, mask making, and zombie shirts.
Councilmember James Johnson’s “First Books at First Fridays” reunites Bixby Belle and the Knolls Ranger as special guest readers. Reading begins at 5:30pm at the Dana Branch Library. After First Books, Bixby Belle invites you to celebrate the Knolls Ranger’s 131st birthday at Oh Very Young (4378 Atlantic) at 7:30pm with delicious birthday cake.
Stop by the Village at Bella Cosa (3803 Atlantic) from 6:30pm – 8:00pm to find all the information about First Fridays, maps, business info, restaurant recommendations and Vendors.
After the businesses close “after hours” fun begins. Nino’s Italian Restaurant, The Factory, BIS Italian-American Sports Café, and EJ Malloy’s stay open late for dining, drinks, and entertainment. Why go home early?
