The community is invited to join the City of Long Beach and the Citizens Advisory Commission on Disabilities (CACoD) in a celebration recognizing October as Disability Employment Awareness Month. The celebration will be held on Wednesday, October 22, 2014, from 12:00 pm – 3:00 pm at the Long Beach Civic Center’s Centennial Plaza, located directly outside City Hall, 333 W. Ocean Boulevard.

“Together we can help remove employment barriers, which will improve the lives and livelihoods of many of our neighbors who want nothing more than to use their skills in the workplace,” Mayor Robert Garcia said.

Many agencies that work with people with disabilities will be at the celebration, including: Long Beach Public Library’s Information Center for People with Disabilities; Pacific Gateway Workforce Investment Network; VA Long Beach Healthcare System; Braille Institute; Ability First; Californians for Disability Rights; Long Beach Mental Health, Social Security Administration; Long Beach Transit; PathPoint and Disabled Resources Center.
