Charges Pending Against Driver Involved in Fatal Traffic Accident

Fatal Traffic Accident in Long Beach

On Sunday, March 10, 2013, at approximately 4:25 a.m., Long Beach Police responded to the intersection of Long Beach Boulevard and 56th Street regarding a single vehicle traffic collision, which resulted in the death of a female adult.

The preliminary investigation indicated that the vehicle, a 2012 Ford Fusion, being driven by 39-year-old Long Beach resident Darrell Childs, was traveling southbound on Long Beach Boulevard.  For an unknown reason, the vehicle veered onto the west parkway, striking a light pole, sheering off a fire hydrant, and striking a traffic signal pole before stopping.  The passenger, identified as 46-year-old Teresa Davis of Long Beach, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Long Beach Fire Department paramedics transported the driver to a local hospital with what appeared to be non-life threatening injuries.  Charges are pending against the driver.
