The spirited men and women of Cheer Los Angeles (Cheer LA) are honored to bring their unique brand of charitable cheerleading for community causes to the 30th Annual Long Beach Lesbian & Gay Pride Parade and Festival on Sunday, May 19, 2013, helping launch the squad’s summer LGBT pride tour to raise funds for HIV/AIDS organizations and other charities!

For over a decade, Cheer LA has performed for hundreds of thousands of spectators at LGBT pride parades and festivals throughout California and the rest of the country. With each high-flying stunt routine and energetic dance number, team volunteers encourage enthusiastic crowds to donate into the signature Cheer LA Spirit Buckets on behalf of the squad’s Cheer For Life Fund beneficiaries, helping the team raise over $10,000 for Long Beach charities alone to date.

This year, Cheer LA is once again collecting donations on behalf of the Comprehensive AIDS Resource and Education (CARE) Program at St. Mary Medical Center. CARE is a non-profit program that helps address the medical and social needs of the HIV community throughout Los Angeles County by offering health and social services to individuals and families infected with and affected by HIV/AIDS.

Cheer LA, along with its sister squads of the Pride Cheerleading Association (PCA), Cheer San Francisco and San Diego Cheer Elite, will have the distinct pleasure of kicking off Long Beach Pride Parade festivities during Sunday’s “Kickoff at Parade Central” pre-show at Bixby Park at 9:30 am. The entire PCA contingency will then march and perform during the Parade on Ocean Blvd. starting at 10:30 am, followed by a dynamic cheerleading show at the Long Beach Pride Festival entertainment stage at 4 pm.

About Cheer Los Angeles: Founded in 2001, Cheer Los Angeles is an active group of adult volunteers seeking to promote pride, spirit, and diversity in the LGBT community through collegiate-style cheerleading, dance, and stunt performances. At each appearance, Cheer LA raises money for its Cheer for Life Fund, which benefits local HIV/AIDS organizations and other charities. With the help of fellow Pride Cheerleading Association (PCA) teams, Cheer LA has donated over $100,000 directly to local organizations and charities to date.
