Limited spaces are still available for the two week, July 28-August 8, summer day camp offered by The Children’s Theatre of Long Beach (CTLB), the newest Long Beach provider of live, theatrical entertainment performed by families for families. The two-week day camp, titled “Once Upon a Time,” offers instruction in all aspects of Musical Theatre performance, including scene work, solo and ensemble songs, choreography, and improvisation.

Sean McMullen, executive director of CTLB and the director of CTLB’s recent production of Willy Wonka, is the lead instructor. The camp is called “Once Upon a Time” because the scenes, songs and dance numbers will all be pulled from musicals featuring classic, new, and re-imagined fantasy and fairy tales. Campers will perform scenes and songs from theatre favorites such as Little Mermaid, Wicked, Into the Woods, Shrek, Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast, and Once Upon a Mattress.

The camp will be held at the California Heights United Methodist Church in Long Beach, located at 3759 Orange Avenue in Long Beach. Camp will meet from 1-5pm, Monday-Friday, July 28-August 8. The camp is offered for young performers entering grades 1-12. On the first day, there will be a placement audition for all campers in order to determine the appropriate level for camp classes and to ensure a match between performer and the materials he or she will be working on and performing. The camp culminates in a final performance on Saturday, August 9 at 2pm.

Participation fees are $185 per camper. Discounts are offered for each additional sibling, who can enroll for just $165.
