condit-spirit-awardsCommunity Hospital of Long Beach Foundation will honor the exceptional commitment of Farmers & Merchants Bank and the Assistance League of Long Beach to CHLB at the Condit Spirit Awards on Saturday, November 21.  The two honorees will be recognized for their significant charitable gift support & volunteer service to CHLB, which enable the hospital to continue to provide quality healthcare services and programs for the diverse needs of the community.

CHLB selected Farmers & Merchants Bank as their corporate honoree and the Assistance League of Long Beach as their community-based honoree for this year.

The Condit Spirit Awards will take place at the Hyatt Regency Long Beach.  The event will feature a gala dinner, awards ceremony, and silent auction, along with a live auction presided over by the honorable Don Knabe, Supervisor, Fourth District, Los Angeles County.  The platinum sponsors for 2009 are Belvista Convalescent Hospital and The Dougherty Company Insurance Brokers.

All proceeds from the Condit Spirit Awards will benefit the Community Dreams Fund: Focusing on Today, Planning for Tomorrow, which ensures that our hospital continues to provide quality healthcare by optimizing the latest medical technologies and providing the services and programs for the diverse needs of our community.

Founded by Jess Grundy, a long time supporter of CHLB, the CHLB Foundation has a long and prestigious tradition of supporting the hospital’s mission of providing the finest care available to its patients. CHLB Foundation’s vigorous response to the hospital’s needs has funded every major expansion, renovation and capital equipment purchase since the 1970s.

The Condit Spirit Awards are named after former Long Beach Mayor Fillmore Condit, whose charitable gift in 1924 helped make the Community Hospital a reality.  Serving the east side of Long Beach and neighboring communities, CHLB is a major provider of personalized health care with an active emergency department and a focus on adult medicine. In addition to honoring Mayor Condit’s charitable spirit, the Awards will commemorate the hospital’s 85th anniversary with a roaring 20s theme.  Attendees are encouraged to come in costume!

The reception and silent auction begin at 6 pm, followed by dinner, awards, and live auction at 7pm.  Tickets are $175 per person.  For reservations and more information, please visit or call the CHLB Foundation at 562-494-0576.
