Commentators Named For 2014 Long Beach Gay Pride Parade

Ocean Boulevard, between Lindero Avenue and Alamitos Avenue, will be action packed with excitement come Sunday, May 18th, for the 31st Long Beach Lesbian & Gay Pride Parade. Kicking off the parade will be the Grand Parade Marshal Ross Mathews, who is one of the most in-demand television personalities and entertainment correspondents in the pop-culture arena today.
The day starts off at 8:00 am with the Shoreline Front Runners with the Pride Run on Junipero Avenue at Ocean Blvd. The run will be along the beach path. At 10:00 am, join the action at Parade Central, on Ocean Blvd between Junipero and Cherry. The pre-parade show includes performances by LA Cheer and the Hamburger Mary’s Bruchettes. There will also be a lots of prize giveaways which include FREE Long Beach Pride Festival tickets, Tee Shirts, and much more! And at 10:30 am the parade kicks off! With over 150 entries, it’s a spectacular street show that includes everything from Drag Queens and Kings to Zombies. You don’t want to miss this amazing parade.
This year’s parade announcers consist of community superstars. The Parade will begin at step off on Ocean Blvd and Lindero Avenue, with the hot multi-talented Latina and Diva, Bella Farrow. You can also find her hosting one of the hottest Latino clubs in LA County, the weekly Margarita Mondays at Hamburger Mary’s Long Beach.
At parade central, we have the three wonderful personalities to get everyone fired up for the parade. All 3 hosts are former Long Beach Gay Pride Pageant winners. This includes the one and only Jewels, who produces and hosts dozens of events, shows, and fundraisers throughout all of Southern California, and in the grand stand will be Long Beach’s sweetheart of a guy, community advocate Mark “Markie” Magdaleno, known for his great smile and generous attitude staffing the 2nd District Councilwoman Lowenthal. Joining Markie is the gorgeous Big Dee, one of the top Lady Gaga impersonators in California. At Ocean Blvd and Alamitos “on the curve”, is the sultry Sasha Scarlett, the comedic tour-de-force and Emmy-nominated actress who has hosted many Pride events including Long Beach, Portland, Las Vegas, and Seattle Pride Festivals, as well as the Entertainment Director for The Suites Nightclub in Long Beach.
This year’s street closures are along Ocean Boulevard and are as follows, 5:00 am from Redondo to Lindero Avenue. At 8:00 am, from Lindero Avenue to Cherry Avenue and at 8:30 am closures from Cherry Avenue to Alamitos Avenue and around the curve to Broadway.
No selling of food, merchandise, drinks, or alcoholic beverages is allowed on the parade route.
